Scarcity Ads: 28 Facebook & Instagram Examples That Ran

Checked 25 Oct 2026 · 28 ads from 26 brands, from Meta's Ad Library · How we pick ads

Scarcity lines ask a stranger to hurry, and that only works when the line also says other people already bought. The ads here pair the hurry with a named product, a price or a date, and 13 of the 28 had run past 90 days when we checked, the longest at 540 days.

  • 13of the 28 ads ran past 90 days when we checked
  • 85days, the median run on this page
  • 540days for the longest run, Revoget's SALE ENDS TODAY
  • 7beauty ads, the largest category

Hurry, sorted by what is running out

Grouped by the job each ad does. Swipe a row, and tap “Why it works” for our breakdown.

A time limit is the cheapest way to make waiting costly, so these ads print it in the biggest type on the picture. Revoget's "SALE ENDS TODAY" sits over a bare studio pillow, and Ollie's swaps the countdown for a named weekday a viewer can put in a calendar.

Revoget Meta ad: a blue leg pillow on white under red and black "SALE ENDS TODAY" and a black "50% off" pill, ran 540+ days
RevogetRan 540+ days
Scarcity and urgency ads

“SALE ENDS TODAY”

Why it works

A white square holds three things only: "SALE ENDS TODAY" in red and black type, a black pill reading "50% off", and a blue leg pillow cut out below them. No room, no person and no claim about comfort sits on the picture, so the ad sells a price and a deadline to someone who may never have planned to buy a pillow. The body adds a Black Friday code and a refund promise, but the image alone makes the offer. Price and deadline are the whole offer.

Shop FabuLoveRan 533+ days
Scarcity and urgency ads

“now's the time to lock in today's price”

Why it works

A tall off-white card opens with a gold name necklace arcing across the top, then a heavy "WE’RE SAYING goodbye" headline and a paragraph about rising costs. The deadline arrives with a reason: the brand says prices may go up, so today's 50% OFF is a chance to lock one in. The necklace is the only product on the card and the plain black paragraph does the selling. A text card with one piece of jewelry reads more like a letter than an ad.

Scarcity and urgency ads

“LAST CHANCE”

Why it works

A model seen from behind in black lace sits on a cushioned bench, with "LAST CHANCE" in a serif face across her back and "UP TO 40% OFF" beneath it. The picture names no product, so the copy leans on the body: "TODAY is the day. Tomorrow it’s gone." The restrained serif keeps the urgency from reading as a clearance flyer, which suits a category bought on feel, not on volume. It ran 262+ days.

Lucky FoursRan 168+ days
Scarcity and urgency ads

“Goodbye, Lucky Fours watches”

Why it works

A broken heart and a tearful face sit above a centered note on plain white, and no watch appears anywhere. The note is signed by the team, says best sellers are going and ends with "Buy 1, Get 1 FREE + 30-day money-back guarantee." Placing the guarantee in the last line lets the viewer read the deadline and the risk reversal in one pass, and the letter format stands apart from the glossy ads around it in a feed. Plain white leaves the note as the only thing to read.

Halara LeggingsRan 163+ days
Scarcity and urgency ads

“FINAL HOURS”

Why it works

A green banner reading "FINAL HOURS" and "BLACK FRIDAY" tops a collage of folded striped leggings, a row of color dots and two on-body shots, with "UP TO 50% OFF" in large serif type at the lower right. The collage answers the shopper's next question, which colors and how they fit, so the deadline does not have to explain anything. The banner is the only part that names time; the rest is a catalog. It ran 163+ days.

Scarcity and urgency ads

“LAST DAY”

Why it works

A mint-green square opens with LAST DAY in white serif capitals and "SPECIAL SPRING SALE" in yellow, above a fan of coffee bags in yellow, brown, blue and pink. The bag colors are how a viewer tells roasts apart, so the lineup doubles as a menu and one deadline sells several products. The body carries the long pitch, low-acid, organic coffee with verified buyer quotes. Worth copying: put the whole range under the deadline.

Ollie'sRan 30+ days
Scarcity and urgency ads

“GRAND OPENING EVENT”

Why it works

A cartoon storefront, balloons and a smiling mascot frame "GRAND OPENING EVENT IN OREGON" in red block letters, with a red bar giving a weekday and date and a burst promising up to 70% off every day. The scarcity is a real-world event: a door opens on a day in a place, and a viewer can put that in a calendar. The illustration marks it as a party, so the urgency feels festive instead of pushy. A named day and place make the deadline checkable.

The stock line is also a popularity line, so a stranger learns what is scarce and that others bought it. Gigi Pip pairs "Our Most Popular Hat" with "Selling Out Fast", and Truly Beauty adds "OVER 250K SOLD" beside the price.

“Our Most Popular Hat”

Why it works

A woman in a cream dress holds the brim of a black western hat in front of a log wall, and two lines of white type cross her torso: "Our Most Popular Hat Is Selling Out Fast". The line works in two steps, popularity first and scarcity second, so a viewer learns which hat is the best seller and that other people are already buying it. The body then names it the Teddy. Take the order: say what is popular, then say it is going.

“THIS HAT IS SELLING OUT FAST”

Why it works

A rider in a pale wide-brim hat stands against a hazy blue sky with sun flare, and one line of white capitals crosses the chest: "THIS HAT IS SELLING OUT FAST". No price, product name or logo sits on the picture, so the scarcity claim carries the whole message while the mood does the rest. The headline, "Own the Room.", and the body name the hat, the Five Points. Mood comes from the photo and the hurry from one line.

“SELLING FAST”

Why it works

A close crop of brown boxer briefs fills the square, with a black "NEWS" tag and a headline in orange and white that says the $6 boxer briefs are selling fast, followed by small type: "FOR NEW REWARDS MEMBERS". Price, speed and eligibility share one headline, so the scarcity has a reason to be believed. The news tag borrows the look of a bulletin, which makes the urgency read as reporting. The member line tells the viewer who gets the price.

“THE TIKTOK KIT THAT KEEPS SELLING OUT”

Why it works

A hot-pink square stacks signals in one frame: a yellow "FLASH SALE" band, "THE TIKTOK KIT THAT KEEPS SELLING OUT", a starburst with "$122" struck through beside "$89", and "OVER 250K SOLD". The kit stands in its box with the bottles and a deodorant stick in front, so the set is clear without reading. Each line answers a different doubt: is it a deal, is it popular, is it ending. Price, popularity and deadline each get a corner.

“DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE”

Why it works

A black and kraft device box sits at an angle on dark green, with "DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE" above it and "FRESHLY RESTOCKED" in bold below. The restock is the news, and the tone fits a gadget with a following: a hard-to-get product announced in the voice of a drop. The body then explains what the device connects with, since the box alone does not. Showing the box makes the restock concrete.

“Our Fastest-Selling Launch Is Back”

Why it works

Open eye-shadow compacts crowd the right side of a pale frame with a pink-handled brush across them, while the left holds a small "BACK IN STOCK:" label above "Midnight Bloom" in a thin serif. Where other restock ads shout, this one reads like a shelf tag, and the pressed, smudged swatches show texture in place of a claim. The headline, "Our Fastest-Selling Launch Is Back", handles the popularity work. Texture in the swatch does what a starburst would do elsewhere.

“BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND”

Why it works

A lit candle in a coral glass sits on a stone slab among pumpkins, a topped drink and marshmallows, under "BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND" in spaced capitals and "SPICED PUMPKIN LATTE" in larger type. A seasonal scent is scarce in time, so the restock line and the props both point at the season. The flame shows the product in use, which a photo of a closed jar cannot. Candle, props and headline tell one story. It ran 80+ days.

“4x SOLD OUT”

Why it works

A pale-blue top band reads "4x SOLD OUT" and "ILLUME IS BACK IN STOCK" over a black toothbrush box, the brush and its spare heads, with a small arrow labeled "spinning toothbrush". The claim is that the product has sold out 4x, which tells a cold viewer it is wanted. The arrow explains the device in a few words, since a stranger needs the product explained as much as the scarcity. A sell-out count gives a restock line something a bare "back in stock" cannot.

Why it works

Three navy and gold spray bottles stand in a row on a split navy and cream ground, under "BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND" in a tall serif and above a navy bar that reads "DON’T MISS THIS DROP." beside an orange "STOCK UP" button. The button copy matters: a restock of a product that gets used up invites more than one purchase, so the call to action sets the quantity. The identical bottles make the stock-up invitation visible.

“BACK IN STOCK”

Why it works

A woman in sunglasses and a dark shirt takes a selfie against a cream car, with the CHIMI wordmark at the left and "BACK IN STOCK BESTSELLERS" at the right in small white type. It is the quietest restock in the set: no price, no deadline, only the status and the idea that the returning products are the popular ones. The headline names a specific frame, Core 10 Black, so the restock has something to point at. Names like that make a restock specific.

“LIMITED EDITION”

Why it works

A hand holds a camo-patterned tool over a dark surface, with a knife blurred below and "LIMITED EDITION CAMO PRO" in heavy white capitals across the bottom. The limit sits on a finish, not on stock: the pattern is the scarce part, while the headline, "Get Any Knife Razor Sharp in Minutes", sells what every version shares. “LIMITED TIME”

Why it works

This is a sign-up ad, not a product ad: "PUBLISH YOUR FIRST PRODUCT" in purple, "START EARNING FROM YOUR ART" in black and a purple "LIMITED TIME" pill above a hoodie and a mug floating at angles. The limit attaches to an invitation to start, not to a stock level, and the finished hoodie and mug show what a first product would look like. The pill is small enough that the invitation stays the headline.

Why it works

A dark crimson backdrop holds a row of pink holiday blush and lip-balm sets under a huge white PATRICK TA wordmark, with "LIMITED TIME ONLY ON PATRICKTA.COM" in small type near the bottom. The limit has two parts, time and place, because the line names the store. The wordmark is larger than the product, so brand recall does the persuading before the scarcity line is read. The jewelry ties the sets to gifting, and the line puts the window ahead of the website. This is the same promise as the brand's other ad, set in a styled tray instead of a product row. “STILL THINKING ABOUT IT?”

Why it works

A bed of gray plastic crosses fills a truck bay under "STILL THINKING ABOUT IT?", with "UPGRADE YOUR TRUCK NOW", a red SHOP NOW button and a Made in America flag below. There is no countdown. The pressure comes from asking a viewer who has already looked to finish deciding, and the body opens "You’ve seen the product, now see the results." The product is shown installed, so the nudge needs no re-explaining. A nudge can stand in for a deadline when the viewer has already seen the product.

Why it works

A man in a dark top holds a baby above a purple band that says "Families need you." with a pink "Donate now" button. There is no stock and no clock, so the urgency sits in the verb: need. Why it works

A salmon-pink pavement star set in dark terrazzo, the Hollywood sidewalk kind, carries a block of black capitals: vets say to check a list of common dog treats that are toxic, and "IS YOURS ON IT?" Instead of a stock limit, the urgency is a risk: act before the next treat. The star shape borrows the look of a street plaque, and the small "LEARN MORE" bar is the only ask. A warning works as a deadline without naming a day.

Word the hurry so the viewer can check it

  2. Name the product people wantGigi Pip says "Our Most Popular Hat" and Voluspa names its scent, so the viewer knows what the hurry is about.
  3. Put a price or date beside itSavage X Fenty prints "$6" and Truly Beauty strikes "$122" through to "$89", so the line has a number to check.

Sizes and Safe Zones are on our Instagram Safe Zone checker page.

Keeping the claim true

A crossed-out price is a claim. Truly Beauty prints "$122" struck through beside "$89". The FTC's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing say a former price should be one the product was genuinely offered at for a reasonable period. We have not checked any brand's prices.

A free item has conditions. Lucky Fours puts "Buy 1, Get 1 FREE + 30-day money-back guarantee." on the picture itself. The FTC's guide to the word free asks that the conditions attached to a free item be set out clearly.

Say who qualifies. Savage X Fenty prints "FOR NEW REWARDS MEMBERS" under its $6 line, so the condition sits on the picture. Meta's Advertising Standards bar misleading claims and offers, and a sold-out or last-day line should match what the store shows.

Deadline lines and run length

Closing-time lines ran long. Revoget's "SALE ENDS TODAY" had run 540 days when we checked, Shop FabuLove's "last chance" line 533, Sophie & Olivia's "LAST CHANCE" 262, Halara Leggings' "FINAL HOURS" 163 and Fabula Coffee's "LAST DAY" 141.

A static picture does not date itself. Our check shows when each ad started and how long it ran. It does not show which offer sat behind a static picture on any given day.

Event-tied lines ran shorter. The restock lines, which point at a drop, mostly ran under 90 days: rms beauty at 82, Voluspa at 80 and CHIMI at 33.

Before you tell a buyer time is running out

What is a good example of a scarcity ad?

A named product with a count behind it is the clearest example here. Illume prints "4x SOLD OUT" above its toothbrush box, so the viewer learns what is scarce and that other people bought it.

Do scarcity lines have to be true?

Yes, a sold-out or last-day line should match what the store shows that day. Meta's Advertising Standards bar misleading claims and offers, and the FTC's pricing guides cover comparisons like Truly Beauty's "$122" beside "$89".

Does back in stock count as a scarcity ad?

Yes, it is scarcity after the fact: the product has already sold out once, and that is the proof. rms beauty, Voluspa, Soleil Toujours and CHIMI all lead with the restock, and most of these ran under 90 days.

Does a scarcity ad need a discount?

No, many of the restock and limited-edition ads ask for the click with no price on the picture. rms beauty, Voluspa and Soleil Toujours name the product and nothing else.

Can a scarcity ad run without a product photo?

Yes, a plain text card can carry it. Lucky Fours runs a signed note on white with only emoji and type, and it had run 168 days when we checked.

Make scarcity ads like these

A scarcity line only works when it names what is running out and gives the viewer something to check, so paste your client's website or your own and see which claims fit the product.

How we pick ads. We search Meta's public Ad Library for ads from DTC brands that sell to US and UK shoppers, keep ads running 14 days or more, skip catalogue ads, and show at most 3 per brand. Days running is a spend signal: brands rarely keep paying for an ad that doesn't sell. Day counts are as of the check date above. Breakdowns are written by Gimme Gimme's ad analysis engine from each ad's image and copy, and edited by Josh Jackson, founder. Not affiliated with the brands shown; ads appear for commentary and analysis. To have an ad removed, email hello@getgimmegimme.com and we'll take it down within 7 days.
